CHANEL: CHANCE EAU VIVE - The Film

$

Hey Nubians,

I think all girls like Chanel right?

Well, at least the thought of Chanel because the French fashion house has always branded itself as such a classic, feminine brand.

To celebrate the arrival of this new fragrance, Chanel's new ‘Chance Eau Vive’ film takes you bowling! I know at first you may be like "WTF? Bowling and Chanel... ehhhhh." However, I FREAKEN LOVE IT. No crappy looking bowling uniforms here! The gorgeous models, Cindy Bruna, Romy Schonberger, Rianne van Rompaey and Sigrid Agren are all wearing beautiful pastel outfits (adore the skirts especially). The ladies also look ever so graceful bowling in the alley, where the bowling ball and pins all happen to be the Chanel 'Chance' perfume bottles of course. The campaign print and video is by Jean-Paul Goude.

The ambiance in the video is super cool too. All pastel colored bottles and outfits and they make it seem like you're bowling in outer space with a black background of what appears to stars... I think I even spotted a shooting star during the video.

I can't speak for the perfume yet because I haven't sampled it... but the promo for 'Chance' is absolutely beautiful and inspiring.

Kudos to Chanel! Barely ever disappoints.

Makeup Monday!

Hello Nubians,

It's the start of another glorious week!

I wanted to share my everyday makeup routine I've been applying lately. Basically, now that my hair is so bright and bold I've slightly tweaked my makeup a little bit. I didn't think it made sense to have purple hair and crazy overdone makeup too. It's all about balance kiddies.

My Everyday Makeup Routine.

* I start off by Moisturizing with Olay Complete All Day Moisturizer with Broad Spectrum SPF 15. I also add a dime size of coconut oil and mix it together for extra moisture.
*Next I proceed by applying my ELF concealer slightly under my eyes to create a shadow to minimize my dark circles.
*After that I use my Wet N Wild eyebrow kit, which after trying so many expensive options is my absolute favorite.
*Lately I've been using LOreal Paris Miss Manga Mascara.
*I apply a little bit of Victoria's Secret St. Barths bronzer by my cheekbones.
*After that I select which lip color I want to use that day.
*Lastly I pick either a nuetral or bold eyeshadow and apply a little bit under my eye.

Then TAH-DAH! Cute and fairly minimal.

This is also a great option for Summer because you don't have to cake so much makeup on your face when it's so hot!

Cheers!

Hey Nubians,

It's been a while since I've chimed in here, but I'm BACK! I had some guest over my home and some light traveling and journeys... but I've missed my blog dearly. I'm so ecstatic to be back to writing.

I traveled to Arizona for the Grand Canyon which is not far from Las Vegas. I took a convenient and comfy tour bus which I would recommend for those who don't want to drive.

The Grand Canyon is mind blowing! It's beautiful and it's no wonder people come from all over to see it. Standing on the edge looking down with my heart racing in my chest, I took a moment to count my blessings and be grateful that I had a chance to view such a miraculous piece of nature and history.  I took about a 3 mile hike around and the views and colors of the rocks and mountains were astonishing. You have to go see it!

Had to take a quick selfie first haha. #SocialMediaProblems

When it came to outfit decisions, I was torn on what to wear. I wanted to wear something cute and comfortable. I found the lace shorts at ROSS and my lace crop top was from a thrift store. They looked really cute together and complimented each other well.  I LOVE my Ash Sneaker Wedges but perhaps they weren't my smartest choice for a hiking trip. You will be very high up and feel like you need to catch your breathe at times. I recommend regular sneakers or preferable a nice pair of hiking sneakers.

This was me and my friend Mary's attempt at making a heart. Sure it wasn't perfect, but it was still full with lot's of love.

At the end of the hike you have a tavern where you can stop in and eat or have a nice refreshing brewski. We all had a Grand Canyon IPA beer.

Cheers!

Vegas Flower Child.

Hey Nubians,

Love is like a beautiful flower which I may not touch, but whose fragrance makes the garden a place of delight just the same.  -Helen Keller

Even though Las Vegas has been crazy hot and quite unbearable for some time now, I'll take this heat over a New York Winter any day. I've been enjoying the pool and some nice company lately which trying to stay indoors as much as possible like some sort of stylish vampire.

My friend and designer of gla.MAR.ous gifted my with 2 pretty flower crowns and I love them. The outfit I wore on this day was minimal since I chose to focus of the flower crown more as a center piece. I'm sporting a cute crop top from H&M and the shorts with the little ruffles on the side are from Boy Meets Girl.

Lipstick below is NYX cosmetics Violet.

Flowers are so beautiful and when I see them I get a feminine sense of power and liberation. I always think of how strong, independent and beautiful a women like Frida Khalo was. Her beauty radiated out of her body because it came straight from the soul. Then there's also a more 'Flower Child' vibe that kind of screams Young, Wild, and Free to me. So many sources of inspiration.

Later in the day my friend took a photo of me in the other flower crown. It was the golden hour, also known as the magic hour and everything just seemed to glow.

Never Ditching Denim Fashion!

Is There Ever A Season Where Denim Isn't Appropriate?

I was shopping around on the web when I dropped by http://www.simons.ca and saw this photo of a pretty lady wearing a denim jacket. All of a sudden it hit me how much I LOVE denim. It's just so comfortable and reliable.

Denim also has this all American feel to it... kind of like the girl next door vibes, it's classic. After the 4th of July passing by and having to read about Ariana Grande making rude remarks about America... I'm feeling a bit patriotic. You can also wear it year round which is a huge perk. There's vest, shorts, jeans, jackets, headwear, and even more risky items I probably wouldn't wear such a purses (though I might have owned one in my childhood). I often turn to red lips, a plain white tee and a nice pair of denim shorts as a chic go-to outfit Summer outfit.

Anyway, below see some lovely ladies in denim for your fashion and wardrobe inspirational needs. Cheers!

What's your favorite way to style denim?

Kate Moss 1992. Throwback Fashion.

Hey Nubians,

A good day for a nice throwback...

Check out these photos below of the lovely Kate Moss for Glamour France April, 1992.

Kate is so loved in the fashion realm. She just has this effortless beauty and a very "cool" vibe surrounding her. She has this bad girl streak in her too which has always made her even more appealing. This editorial makes me very happy. Unlike many people, I am a big fan of wearing pastels... some of you may remember how popular this trend was at some point in the 90's.

This editorial kind of makes me want to sit and watch the movie Clueless (Ugh, as if!). Can't you totally picture Cher Horowitz in the outfit below?

Fremont Las Vegas Stroll: 90's Style.

Hey Nubians,

Every time I go downtown to Fremont I have so much fun! This day, I just so happened to have my camera with me so I snapped a few photos. I love the "Old Las Vegas" vibes. I also really appreciate all the things like street signs and such that they've been able to preserve because to me personally it makes a big difference.

There's always something to do in these parts. All sorts of fun restaurants and bars as well as so many little cute independent stores we should all support. I was on my way to Container Park to grab a bite and check out Kappa Toys for fun... they have great retro toys.

Wearing H&M Crop Top, American Apparel High Waisted Jeans, Patty's Closet Hat, Nike Aire Force Sneakers.

My outfit this day was selected carefully... well not really, I wanted to look cute and be comfortable ha ha. I was laughing though because my boyfriend kept joking around and telling me "take your LL Cool J hat off". He made me feel like a had a slight 90's hip-hop vibe going... in pink of course. I adore high waisted pants, they give you a way nicer silhouette than low rise. Sometimes I think if low rise pants were never popular and we use high waisted instead, we would all have smaller waist because it would always be hugged... if that makes any sense?  I think it does.

Peep Insert Coins on the right. So much fun playing retro arcades in there. They have a bad ass selection I know gamers would appreciate.

Love Forever!

Here's the huge praying mantis outside of container park. It always scares the shit out of everyone when fire shoots at of it at night.

Such a nice day. What were you up to this weekend? Anything fun?

Mani Monday: Teal's The Deal.

Hey Nubians,

Nothing like giving yourself a nice little Manicure to brighten up your mood. Though I find it tedious to do my nails, I also find it imperative that my nails look lovely at all times. I didn't always care... but the older I get, the more the little details matter.

Nails wants are so much fun! Even if it's just to add a small amount of glitter over a color, it gives it a little something extra. I like using LA COLORS wands because if you get lucky, you can find them for a dollar. Let's talk about this Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear '325 Big Teal', isn't it pretty? I love a nice bold nail color, it has great coverage even on the first coat... two coats makes it perfect. To top the whole manicure off, I like using Sally Hansen's Gel Shine 3D Top Coat. Then BOOM! Cute little mani complete. I also think Teal's a favorable color to use this time of year. The Xtreme Wear collection has great colors in it, you should check it out at your local drug store... your nails will thank you later ;-)

Margot Robbie For Elle August 2015.

Margot Robbie Is Such A Stunner!

Wearing on the cover: Saint Laurent by Hedi Slimane dress, an Elsa Peretti for Tiffany & Co. mesh halter, and a Janis Savitt earring on the cover.

Check out the beautiful Margot Robbie posing for Elle's August 2015 issue, on newsstands nationwide July 21. I have been completely smitten with her ever since I saw her in The Wolf of Wall Street with Leonardo DiCaprio. She has a very natural, kind of 'Old Hollywood' look to her. Being the little GEEK that I am, you could only imagine my crazy excitement once I found out she was playing the role of Harley Quinn in the Suicide Squad movie. Her fashion sense is also on point all the time, what's not to love?

The leopard in the shoot is very pretty. I admire how it isn't so traditional or boring... it has dimensions. I would totally rock the turquoise leopard jacket below. Such a dreamy piece to have in your ensemble.

In the Elle piece Margot Robbie talks about how everyone is so shocked when they learn she's 24... I have to be honest, I had no idea either!. She states that everyone thinks she's at least a decade older. She does look like she can be 28 or 30 but that isn't a bad thing in my opinion... I think it's because of the way she carries herself with such grace and elegance... I would call it a compliment.

Aside from being in Elle this month, let us all swoon over what a hot Harley Quinn she's portraying in these behind the scenes shots.

Cheers!

Celebrate National Hot Dog Day at Cheffinis Las Vegas.

Hi Nubians,

A few days ago I went to Container Park in Downtown Vegas and Oh-My-Goodness was it delish!

I always had a thing for places with uniquely made hot dogs. In NYC most hotdogs have ketchup, mustard and relish... yawn fest. The reason I like people who cook creative and crazy hot dogs is because when I was younger, I tried an insane hot dog for the first time in Colombia (My mothers homeland and a gorgeous country). The Colombian hot dog had sliced boiled egg on top, marmalade, avocado, crushed potato chips, cheese and more. Years later, I started discovering places that made similar hotdogs in NY and a bunch of other random places.

Cheffinis is one of those places that makes hotdogs that have super powers. Reading the menu will literally make your mouth water! It doesn't hurt that you can also order a nice cold beer while you're there. Other great items to try out are the sweet potato fries and the loaded fries.  Another great perk of this cute little place is that the price is right. Considering the hot dogs are huge, it won't burn a hole in your pocket and you'll walk out with a satisfied appetite.

Below check out the items I ordered. See more from Cheffinis HERE. I would definitely recommend it to a friend. It's a sweet experience.

CLASSIC CHEFFINIS
Grilled frank, onions, tomatoes, jalapeños, mozzarella, crushed potato chips, pineapple sauce, mustard, mayo and ketchup. $5.99

SWEET POTATO FRIES
Fresh and crispy sweet fries sprinkled with sugar powder and a side of fry sauce. Small $2.00 Large $4.00

Next to my Classic Cheffini on the left, my boyfriend ordered...

CRUNCHY DOG
Grilled frank, onions, red peppers, bacon bits, crushed potato chips, seaweed, sriracha mayo, mustard, fry sauce. $6.99

If you're in Vegas tomorrow, head over to Cheffinis for National Hot Dog Day! The deal of the day is a Classic Cheffini hot dog and a beer for only $5.00! Awesome. Also enjoy happy hour from 6-7, any beer for $1.00.

Cheers!

Hey Nubians,

This dress makes you never want to STOP STARING.

If you want a dress that makes you feel absolutely sexy and beautiful without having to show so much skin all the time you must head over to Stop Staring Clothing. They have absolutely stunning vintage style dresses & retro clothing. Also, there dresses fit me like a glove and I love the silhouette they give me. You can see other Stop Staring dresses I've wornhere and here

I decided to go with a 2 piece this time instead of a 1 piece dress. I decided it added a little flirty sensation to the look. I am also completely smitten with the big flower pattern on the dress. They look like tropical flowers. Something about tropical flowers makes me smile.... they make me think of planning a beautiful vacation.

I'm looking forward to pairing the top of this vintage inspired set with another bottom sometime soon. The colors are so vibrant and gorgeous.

Taking It Back: Fashion, Style and Surviving Blogger Slumps.

$
0

Hey Nubians,

There's so many fun and amazing things about having a fashion blog!

I wanted to do a Nubia's Nonsense style #throwback post and talk a bit about my blogging journey. Through my fashion blog, I've met SO MANY people that I can call friends today and I've also gotten so many opportunities. I've been fortunate enough to get job offers, work with great brands, do a bit of styling and consulting and more. These are all things I never expected when I started my blog years ago. I started blogging simply for fun and because I genuinely believe that the way I dress cheers up my days. I wanted to share something that gave me so much joy with the world.

I have to be honest however, somewhere along the years... probably around the time blogging became so monetized, I lost a lot of passion for it. Things started seeming more and more fake and it also appeared people were doing things ONLY for money or perks. Don't get me wrong, I think making money off your blog is GREAT, amazing really... BUT you shouldn't lose your aesthetic along the way and represent things you don't even believe in. It's a fine line and I myself have tried my best to stay true.

Lately however, and most importantly... I am re-finding my love for posting and I'm planning to change my blog up a bit. It's important to remind yourself when you're going through a slump that you started doing this with a purpose, and you have to redefine your vision and make it fun for you again. I'm going to add more lifestyle, art, mood boards and videos. It's hard to explain the picture in my head but I'm really excited to watch it come to life. I want to focus on connecting with people that love what I love and make friends with similar interest all over the world. That's what it was always about, LOVE & CONNECTING & POSITIVE VIBES. I'm very happy with the things I've been planning lately. I hope you'll all love it too.

Another super fun thing about having a fashion and style blog is that you'll find that when you look back, you often re-inspire yourself. Things like "Oh, That was a cute outfit" or "Why don't I do that anymore?""I kind of loved my hair that way" etc. I also think about things in the future such as "If I ever have a daughter this is like the ultimate mood board to show her".

Anyway, I've gone through so many style and hair transitions it's bizarre. I'm so content about it though. I get to look back when I'm older and feel like I was fearless... what a good example to give other young women right?

I hope you've all enjoyed looking back at some of my fun outfits. For those of you who also have a blog and are going through a slump, I hope you get out of it soon! Maybe I'll make a post featuring some tips for getting out of a blogger slump soon.. I think I have pretty good ones ;-)

Cheers!

Demi Lovato "Cool For The Summer" Video. Empowering All The Way.

What A Beautiful Babe!

A few years back Demi Lovato went through some personal struggles very publicly because she's a celebrity and always under a microscope. While most people get to deal with these problems privately, Demi's problems were aired out to the world. Issues such as bulimia, drug abuse, self-harm and depression landed her in rehab in 2010. I think many young women in her position would have let all of this consume them, but she has risen like a phoenix out of the ashes!

On all her social channels Demi is super encouraging to her fans and always talks about positivity and shares her journey with you on how she's been becoming healthy and happy since her visit to rehab 5 years ago. The reason I'm even talking about this is because I THINK SHE FUCKING ROCKS. You can tell SooOooOOo much how confident she is in her video. She looks gorgeous! Girl is glowing. I think she is a true role model for dealing with what most deal with behind closed doors and getting help and coming out a true winner. #GetEmGirl

The song "Cool For The Summer" is super catchy and a great Summer song to blast anywhere. It's a flirty song to dedicate to your crush or boy toy. Demi Lovato looks sexy and badass. In the video she's sporting items such as a cut out bra, leather, thigh high gladiators, slick hair, smokey eyes and more. She nailed the strong female, borderline dominatrix look. I've always enjoyed watching what she wears and how she styles herself, she's pretty daring. Most importantly, Demi looks happy and free. Neon and fun bright colors, watch the video below.

I'm all about girl power and people inspiring others. Cheers!

Chihuahua Momma: The Dog Loves Of My Life.

Hey Nubians,

Have You Ever Heard Of Crazy Cat Ladies? Well I'm A Crazy Chihuahua Momma.

If you've ever wondered what I like to do besides put awesome outfits together and geek out from time to time, well... I'm obsessed with my Chihuahua dogs. I think they're one of the cutest dog breeds out there. To me, they're the cutest. They're so small and peculiar. They kind of look like little aliens or little gremlins. So Kawaii! I spend as much time with them as possible. I also like to draw them on my spare time and love photographing them too. You could check out their instagram @BambiAndNala

A video posted by BambiandNala (@bambiandnala) on

Bambi is the brown one and Nala is the white one with brown spots all over the place. I'd like to think I rescued Bambi in a way because I purchased her from a lady in Dominican Republic for $50 bucks who needed to get rid of some dogs. Dominican Republic has SO MANY abandoned dogs on the streets, it' heartbreaking. I was looking for a Chihuahua at the time and I felt like I could give her an amazing home. I got all her shots done and flew her back to NY with me. I purchased Nala from a couple in Las Vegas who also couldn't keep her. She is a Chihuahua mixed with a Jack Russell Terrier which is why she is CRAZY energetic. I love having them together because Nala pushes Bambi to be more active and exercise. Bambi is a little over 5 years and Nala is a little over 1 year old.

Sister love.

A video posted by BambiandNala (@bambiandnala) on

Bambi and Nala get a long very well now. They play fight all day, it's funny and cute. A regular day of me and my babies consist of me waking up, making sure they have fresh water and hard food available to them through out the day. Then I make sure to give them appropriate portions of wet food twice throughout the day. I also walk them where there's a lot of grass so they can smell things and exercise. Whenever I'm home they love to cuddle next to me while I'm working or watching TV. They also love the warmth! Laying under pillow and blankets is one of their favorite things to do.

I also find it funny that most chihuahuas think they're so much bigger than they are. They are VERY protective of their owners and even though they are small, they act like they're Pitbull's. They act very tough and never back down. Total napoleon complex. I'm still working on correcting some of their behavior. I take a lot of tips from The Dog Whisperer and some of his tricks work very well.

Super Bambi

Got a secret can you keep it?

Rough day at the office.

A rose by any other name...

Bath time.

At the end of the day my chihuahuas make the best companions and I love them so, so very much. They bring so much joy to my life and I find qualities in them I still can't find in some people.

I've never been attracted to cats. A lot of that probably has to do with the fact that I'm highly allergic to them. So allergic in fact that if I'm around one for too long I'll probably pass out. I do enjoy watching an occasional funny cat video though... I think they're pretty funny critters.

Are you a dog or cat person?

How To: Ion Lavender Hair Dye.

$

Hello My Dear Nubians,

I am what some of you may define as a hair freak. I am never satisfied with my hair. Because I am never satisfied, I am constantly changing the color which also means constantly bleaching (catches breath). My hair has dried out a lot so I decided to give it a bleach break. Giving my hair a bleach break also meant letting my roots grow out... ALOT.

I let me roots grow out so much in fact, that people thought I had some sort of ombre or dyed my hair this way on purpose ha ha, pretty funny right? I decided the best route to go because of my bipolarness and hair boredom was semi-permanent colors. I've tried Manic Panic a few times, and though I like Manic Panic, some of the colors bleed out a lot. Thus I turned to Ion Semi Permanent dye.

Watch my video below for a quick tutorial on how I applied the color. It's SooOoooOoo easy. A lot of people get intimidated when applying color but remember this is semi permanent! How bad can you mess up? Besides, Ion also sells a solution to get the dye out of your hair which you can purchase online or at Sally Beauty store.

Some Tips To Maintain Semi-Permanent Dye

*Avoid too much conditioner
*Avoid pool water (chlorine)
*Wash hair with cold water

Another cool trick you can do is that if you MUST apply conditioner, keep an extra bottle of the Ion dye handy. This way when you apply the conditioner, mix it with the ion hair dye! You'll be retouching your color and moisturizing your hair at the same time... BOOM!

ALSO, remember to be an awesome son of a gun today and subscribe to my NubTube channel HERE.

Hello Nubians,

Photos via Avon

It's #NationalLipstickDay! Hurray! Ha. Honestly, Let's face it... What is National Lipstick Day really? I just think it's a fun day to look through my favorite lipsticks and take photos for my social media channels.

Avon has some pretty nice lipsticks I've collected over the years. They're also trying to add a little fun to National Lipstick Day.

In honor of National Lipstick Day, Avon is sharing a Lipstick personality quiz – a series of seven questions designed to help you identify the perfect lip shade for you. And, just in time to celebrate, Avon’s newest launch – Beyond Color Plumping Lip Color SPF 15 – available in ten full color shades, for any and every lip personality.

Pretty awesome right? I took the quiz and my results were "The Life of The Party" and my lip shade is Poppy Pink, which to be quite honest is pretty spot on. The quiz has a lot of fun, cute question so I suggest you all stop by and take it HERE.

Pucker up! Cheers my darlings!

Hello Nubians,

A lot of you may not know but I'm half Dominican. My father is Dominican and is actually living in the Dominican Republic right now. He lives in the capital Santo Domingo. I'm going to assume he's enjoying the tropical weather.

It makes me so happy to see that some of the ladies from one of my favorite shows Orange Is The New Black attended The Dominican Parade Gala! The all looked drop dead gorgeous. Whether they were keeping it classic with a little black dress or being a bit more colorful, their style and fashion game was on point. The beautiful Jackie Cruz rocked Maggy London’s Black Illusion Dress which is form fitting showing off her beautiful curves. I adore how the top and sleeves are sheer too, very conservative and still sexy. You can get her look: The Illusion Dress for an affordable $148.

I read the key theme to this years parade was "Educational and Economic Empowerment." Their goal is to raise $250,000 for underprivileged youth. Absolutely wonderful!

Cheers my darlings!

Looking Good Can Be Very Affordable... It's All About Confidence Ladies!

Hello My Gorgeous Nubians! Rise and Shine Ladies & Gents!

If you've been following me through the years, you should know how much I LOVE color. Though I have my days when I barely wear any, I believe the majority of days people should sport color. I'm quite sure if I google it right now, I'll find a scientific fact stating something along the lines of "Bright colors adds more happiness to your life." So whether it be makeup, hair, or nails... Be BRIGHT& BOLD

Let's Talk About My Makeup For A Sec...

My purple and pink eye-shadow is from the L.A. Colors 16 Color Eyeshadow Palette, Haute. The colors are are matte and shimmery and glide onto your eyelids very well. Considering they're shimmery, I would probably stick to this palette mainly for night time or some sort of day time party. I applied the hot pink on my eyelid and the purple on my crease.

You can pick up the  L.A. Colors 16 Color Eyeshadow Palette, Haute at Target for $3.99

And My Nails ...

My nails on the other hand are press-ons! I know, not many people wear press-ons anymore but I like them! I walked into The Dollar Tree the other day and they have a bunch of cute designs for, you guessed it, $1.00. The brand is Sassy + Chic. It makes for such a quick and pretty manicure. It doesn't come with the glue, but you can also find it in the store for $1.00 and it comes with 2 small glue bottle inside.  I like that they're short so they don't look over the top fake. Also if you're not going to be doing anything too extreme like mountain climbing and such... the glue should hold well.

I love applying nail polish to my nails but sometimes because I wash dishes and clean up my house a lot and use my hands a lot, the colors chip easily no matter how good the nail polish is. Also, I like applying stickers, but the process can be a little tedious sometimes with the filing the ends off etc. and more time consuming than the press-on nails.

Cheers my darlings!
