Libations & Style With Retro Coca Cola Ads.

Hello Nubians,

“Happiness is not something ready made. It comes from your own actions.” ― Dalai Lama XIV

I was roaming the web over the weekend trying to get inspired and I ran into these retro Coca Cola ads. Man these are so cool! I love how their simplicity captures my attention more now than they probably would have a few years ago. They say so much to me. Of course these were simpler times too,  I'm guessing these are mostly from the 1950s-1960s. I would love for these sort of ads to make more of a comeback. I think Coca Cola should recreate these ads with real people and positive influencers. That would be awesome. New, creative minds coming together to recreate the classics which never go out of style.

The hair, makeup, and clothing in these photos is also very inspiring. I love some good ol' 1960s style. The pin curls in some of these look so on point too.

Now that we've clarified how gorgeous these women look,  I'd also like to point out that I enjoy seeing how most of these ads show people sharing a coca cola beverage over some sort of intimate moment. It sends out nice positive message of togetherness.

Enjoy a nice crisp Coca Cola every so often ;-)

Cheers to Coca Cola being around for some many years and always pushing boundaries and being creative!

Do you guys miss these kinds of ads?

My Top 4 Favorite Hairstyles From The MTV VMA's 2015.

Hello My Beautiful Nubian Queens!

I saw last nights MTV VMA awards and though I have many, many... maybe one too many thoughts about the show... I'm just going to talk about hair for now.

Many of the ladies looked drop dead gorgeous and made good fashion choices with their stunning dresses, gowns, and jump suits... I paid a bit more attention to the hair and makeup this year. My top favorite hairstyles were from Vanessa Hudgens, Rita Ora, Taylor Swift and Britney Spears.

A lot of the reasoning behind why I love these hairstyles is that they are so easy to recreate! Total DIY projects, you really don't have to go to the salon for any of these. I think my favorite one is the braid crown sported by Vanessa Hudgens, total boho vibes (plus I love a good braid). I liked how sleek both Rita Ora and Taylor Swift's hairstyles were. Taylor's looks almost like a pixie cut from the front which is super cute. Lastly, Britney Spears pony-tail was fun and playful.  I liked the colors she had going on with the dye too. Seems like a good day to sport your hair tied back!

Did you have any favorite hairstyles on he red carpet?

Just Because... Mandalay Bay Las Vegas.

Hello Nubians,

“Everything and anything you want to do, you can do in Las Vegas.” - Drew Carey

I'm going to keep this short and sweet. This past Saturday I went to Mandalay Bay to enjoy Cirque du Soleil's Michael Jackson ONE (review coming soon). I don't swing by Mandalay Bay too often but who knows, that might have to change soon.  While I was walking up to enter the casino, it hit me that from all the casino/hotels I've been to on the strip, this might be my favorite entrance. It's very pretty. Lots of green, water falls, pillars etc. A lot of casinos have the same qualities, but I like how this walk way was designed a bit better.

(Wearing boohoo romper)

After the ridiculously, amazing, inspiring, almost made me want to cry tears of sadness and joy Michael Jackson ONE show was over, I enjoyed a little casino action and walked away victorious (woohoo!) Oh I enjoyed some Frozen Yogurt too in the casino too (and a few beers). Summary of the story is... nice hotel, pretty views, amazing show, good food, nice gambling action. Cheers!

First Impressions: SNP Animal Facial Mask Tutorial.

Hello My Beautiful Nubian Queens!

I love Korean Beauty Products!!!

Panda Selfie Time! Heyyyyy.

Korean beauty products are so unique compared to some of the stuff I buy on the regular. I mean... don't get me wrong, I love my American products, but that damn Korean packaging is soooo cute! Not to mention the products are great for your skin too. If you roam the web you'll see rave reviews. One of my favorite Korean beauty brands is Tony Moly which you can find at Urban Outfitters,

Anyway, I always talk about the importance of skincare. I saw these SNP Animal Face Mask online and I couldn't resist! I had to try them.

Each facial mask serves a different purpose. You'll see here there's whitening, soothing, wrinkle and a aqua mask. There's also a variety of animals: Panda, Dragon, Otter and Tiger. I decided to try out the panda whitening mask because I thought it would be good to even out small skin imperfections and well also... because I love pandas and really wanted to see the mask on! The whitening mask focuses on restoring dull and rough skin with brightening energy, luminosity and softness.

Watch my first impressions video review below and make sure to subscribe to my channel to see more randomness HERE.

I think these SNP Animal Mask would make great stocking stuffers and cute gifts for your girlfriends. They also feel super nice on your skin.

Cheers!

Hello Nubians & Babetrons,

Being the colorful person that I am, I try to stray away from posting too much black and white photography. However, I couldn't resist with this editorial, it's marvelous. It also made me home sick!

Alisa Ahmann has the modeling game on smash. The poses, the stares, the fierceness, EVERYTHING. I've seen various of the editorials she stars in and she's always so damn good. I love how this editorial for Numéro Magazine takes place in Manhattan rooftops. Makes me miss NYC a bit but I'm visiting next month for a while so yay!

Model: Alisa Ahmann
Photographer: Txema Yeste
Stylist: Elizabeth Sulcer
Hair: Tomihiro Kono
Make-up: Tyron Machhausen
Manicure: Tracylee

There are so many qualities in this editorial that I want to incorporate to my Fall/Winter fashion wardrobe. I am dying to get my hands on some good latex items. I am also planning to bring hardcore use of the blazer back. I can't wait to pull out my pleather and faux fur either. It's like I have all these visions floating around in my head.

Absolutely stunning.

What do you guys think of these looks? Kudos to the photography and crew.

Cheers!

How Much Has Lingerie Has Shrunk Over The Past 100 Years?

$

Hello Nubians,

I love the videos the people make over at Mode, they're all about fashion evolution. This time around, they wanted to show us how much lingerie has changed over the past 100 years. Our underwear is very essential ladies! From our bras to our panties, style and mainly comfort is always something to have. Also, a little sexiness for special occasions too ;-)

I think it's very interesting to see how covered up lingerie was at some point, then is would become very flesh barring, then it would get covered up again. It's also interesting to see the evolution of the silhouette, cup shapes, embroideries, and more. Some of the styles from many years back don't look very different to the ones we have now.

Enjoy!

Cheers!

Colorful Leopard Lisa Frank Inspired Nails.

Hello Nubians!

It's time for Manicure Monday! You gals know I love my nails. I didn't have that much time to paint my nails this week or go to a salon, so I did the next best thing ... pulled out a pair of press-ons I had recently purchased. The nails are pink and yellow toned and feature a cheetah print. This totally reminded me of all my Lisa Frank gear from the 90s. I used to LOVE Lisa Frank!

So Kawaii!

On another note, how do you guys feel about press-on nails? I just started using them about 2 months ago and they've been total life savers! So quick and pretty. I also walk around with a band-aid just in case one were to ever fly off (my true fear) but thankfully that hasn't happened yet.

Cheers!

Beauty Bar Nails Coming Soon To Downtown Las Vegas!

Hello Babettes,

You know the awesome and fun Beauty Bar in Fremont right? Located in beautiful Downtown Vegas...

Well guess what? They recently introduced they're going to have Beauty Bar Nails! How exciting right? I'm hoping it really takes off.

I used to go to Beauty Bar in New York all the time. Back then the deal was you get a martini and a solid colored manicure for $10.00. After a while however, most of the Beauty Bar locations removed the manicure aspect and just remained open as a bar.

As for Beauty Bar Nails in Las Vegas, no info has been released about prices or deals yet. I have a feeling it's going to be promising.  I think it'll be a great place you'll want to go kick it with your girlfriends and have a good time while enjoying a drink and getting your nails done.

For now, you can head on over and follow them on Twitter and Facebookfor more updates.

Wanted to share something for you ladies to look forward to soon ;-)

Cheers!

Thom Browne Spring 2016: New York Fashion Week.

Hello Nubians,

I didn't make it out to New York Fashion Week this season for the first time in a long time, but never fear! We have the interwebs full of fun NYFW photography ;-)

One of the coolest, most unique shows I've been seeing a lot of photos of is Thom Browne Spring 2016. It's like a cross of Japanese school girl uniforms and Alice In Wonderland. Usually, most designers who put together a collection of blazers and skirts run the risk of having it come across as boring, but not Thom Browne. First off, lets talk about the hair ... it was sooooo good. There was also gorgeous boater hats by Stephen Jones. The hats and hair are already immediate eye catchers that make the show as a whole more interesting.

About the clothing ... as I said prior it looked like a Japanese school uniform but the fabric, prints, embroidery, and layering makes all the difference. I love the use of pleats in this collection. There was also a bit of gingham and floral patterns. Some of the items are wearable every day and some maybe not so much. The color scheme was black and gray with a dash of pastels too. I love the balance of the collection however and would absolutely rock some of these pieces in a heartbeat.

Thom Browne is known to put on a show. He put together a one room school house at The Chelsea Gallery. There was also black composition notebooks on each chair. You have to love all the details. Magical and a little dark. Absolutely enjoyable to view.

What do you think about the collection? Do you have a favorite piece?

The Zombie Apocalypse Store And Survival Tips.

Hey Nubians,

I don't think anyone wants to cuddle a zombie. -Norman Reedus

I passed by the Zombie Apocalypse Store in Springfield Mountain, Las Vegas and it was sooooo much fun! An absolute must visit. It's such a cool, random store with the friendliest staff. They have so much knowledge on the products they're carrying and they're definitely the type of people you'd want to roll with if a Zombie invasion ever went down.

Right when you walk in the store you'll see this wall set up and for $1.00, you get a few shots to hit those targets. It's good for practicing your aim. Aim is on the top of the list for good survival skills.

Hanging out with my new friend... NOT. Never become friends with a "walker", I doubt it'll work out for you.

This blood looks thirst quenching.

Exploring the interesting book selection.

I'm not too sure a skirt would ever be in my Zombie survival wardrobe, but I did wear one to check out this store.

Outfit: Hat and tank top from H&M, Dr Marten Boots, Lace top from ROSS, Skirt from a random store at Fashion Show Mall.

Check out my video below walking around the store and talking a bit about the Zombie Apocalypse. Remember to thumbs up the video and subscribe HERE

What would you do if the walkers were amoung us? Do you have any tips or tricks you would suggest?

Thanks to the folks at the Zombie Apocalypse store for being so kind!

Cheers!

Monday Muse: Style Geek Off With Sibui Nazarenko For Marie Claire.

Hello Nubians,

I always look to editorials for inspiration on a weekly basis, especially when the season is changing. Currently I'm looking for a lot of Fall fashion inspiration. I like to see how stylist put outfits together and how photographers capture the moment.

This particular editorial is called "Geek Off" Sibui Nazarenko by Michael Sanders for Uk Marie Claire October 2015. I'm not sure why it's called "Geek Off" to be honest. Patterns piled-up and glasses don't mean "geek" to me haha perhaps I have a different definition. Nevertheless I like the editorial and the styling.

This Fall season I think I'm sticking to burgundy and wine toned colors mainly for makeup. I'm not going to be over obsessed with dark colors in my wardrobe... maybe a tad bit but I still plan to keep my Fall and Winter fairly bright and bold.

I plan to mix a lot of patterns and prints just as seen in this editorial. I want to have a lot of fun with it.

Model: Sibui Nazarenko
Photographer: Michael Sanders
Stylist: Tiffany Fraser Steele
Hair: Leon Gorman
Make-up: Cynthia Sobek

I also like the wet hair look in this editorial as well along with the simple makeup.

The look above if gorgeous. If you see these clothing pieces separately, you would probably never think they would look this amazing together. Through my years of styling experience, I learned that you always have to try stuff on to know if it works. You won't be able to tell if it's on a hanger.

Hope you enjoyed this editorial. Do you have a signature Fall fashion look you're going for?

Cheers!

Awesome Halloween Nails!

Hello Nubians,

I love holiday themed nails.

I pretty much like any themed nails really. With Halloween coming up soon, I've been all about searching the web for ideas. Nails are so much fun! Giving yourself a nice manicure however can be difficult and time consuming. I think a quick fix for these situations is nails decals.

Nail decals are so dope and fairly affordable. The reason I love them so much is because it's like having art on your nails. If someone were to do some of these designs on your nails in the salon it would probably be crazy expensive.

Below I've posted some of my favorite nail decals via Etsy. I think my favorite is the Freddy Krueger and Michael Myers decals. I'm definitely buying some of these probably right after I publish this post.

Halloween Nail Decal 20 Vampire Mouth

Classic Horror Hero Halloween Nail Decals
Price: $6.00

Classic Horror Movie Monsters
Price: $5.00

OCRF’S Super Saturday Vegas-Style Hosted by Rachel Zoe.

Hello Nubians,

I was so excited to have been a part of OCRF’s first-ever Super Saturday Vegas-Style! The event took place September 19-20th and it was a great success. For those of you who aren't familiar, OCRF’s Super Saturday is a shopping event held to benefit the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund. All the events happened between 2 different locations, the wonderful Grand Canal Shoppes at The Venetian, The Palazzo and Fashion Show Mall Las Vegas!

The event was hosted by one of my favorite stylist who also happens to be a designer, editor and author Rachel Zoe and her husband Rodger Berman. There was a VIP brunch at Barneys New York, and tons of special shopping activities where a percentage of sales from participating retailers and dining establishments was being donated to OCRF. What's better than shopping and eating for a great cause right? TREAT YO SELF.

My day started out by passing by Grand Canal Shoppes at The Venetian and picking up a copy of "Living in Style: Inspiration and Advice for Everyday Glamour" written by Rachel Zoe. After that, I got the book signed by her which was pretty excited. She seemed really sweet and complimented my hair while she was signing my book.

While I was there, I also passed by a cute little candy bar and picked up some sweet goodies and got a cute SnapTats tattoo on my hand of a lip with a lipstick next to it. Their tattoos are very cool, you should check them out.

I eventually headed to Fashion Show Mall with my friend Jasmin who is the face behind Vintage Vandalizm and we watched the runway show presented by Saks Fifth Avenue together. It opened up with Rachel Zoe and her husband Rodger Berman walking down the runway with their adorable children. Shortly after a few models strutted down the runway rocking some beautiful Fall Fashion.

I had a very lovely time and was happy to participate in a shopping event for the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund.

I'm loving all the fringe, textures, the turband and the fur! Always great Fall fashion must haves.

To learn a bit more about OCRF’S Super Saturday Vegas-Style head overHERE.

I can't wait to attend next year, cheers!

Gucci Spring 2016.

Hey Nubians,

Nerdy And Colorful, Gucci Spring 2016 is EVERYTHING.

Gucci creative director Alessandro Michele has created the collection of my dreams! The models that strutted down the Gucci Spring 2016 runway during Milan Fashion Week were nerdy, chic, and colorful. There's a huge influence of the 70's in this collection as well. It's my favorite collection I've seen in a long time.

In Gucci Spring 2016 you'll see tons of pleats, embroideries, embellishments, patterns, and more. You'll also notice a bit of a western influence too and maybe even comic books. The collection is a bit all over the place but it blends together so nicely. I like that they really focused on neck accessories this collection too with funky ties, bows and even bolo ties. Another part of the collection that has everyone talking are the glasses. They are seriously fabulous and too much fun if anything else.

These patterns are out of this world.

What do you think about the collection? Would you rock it? Do you dislike anything?

Monday Beauty: Avocado To Prevent Dry Skin.

$

Hello Nubians,

Did you know many great beauty secrets can be found right in your fridge?

With the seasons changing, dry skin but be a royal pain in the you know what. Dermatologist Dr. Whitney Bowe recommends an avocado face mask because avocados are full of antioxidants and fatty acids known to reduce wrinkles, while the oils help hydrate dry and flaky skin. Amazing right? I love eating avocado on the regular, pretty much with everything! Salads, rice and meat, bread with olive oil.. it's the best. It makes me even happier to know that I can use avocado beyond just eating it but also for amazing skin. If you want a more youthful glow you only need two ingredients – avocado and honey! With the seasons changing, our skin can get a little crazy. This is a great time to try out the recipe below.

Try Dr. Bowe’s DIY avocado face mask
1. Combine ½ avocado and 2 tsp honey, and mash until the consistency is like a paste
2. Spread a light coat over your face and neck
3. Leave for 10 minutes and then wash off using warm water.

BOOM! After doing this a few times, hope you notice a nice and positive difference.

Cheers!

Donald J Pliner At The Forum Shops Las Vegas.

Hey Nubians,

If you're looking for a pair of bad ass, amazing, great quality shoes perfect for Fall fashion, check out Donald J Pliner.

About a week ago I moseyed myself over to The Forum Shops at Caesars, Las Vegas to the Donald J Pliner boutique. I attended an event to support JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Fund) where 10% of all sales went to JDRF!

Donald J Pliner is an intriguing, interesting man. He is also extremely kind and a sharp dresser. Totally love him!

While at the event,  I bumped into Christie from I Can Style U and I sat with her for a while as she interviewed Mr. Pliner. You can check out her interview HERE. He spoke about many things such as his travels, lady friends, inspirations, art, career choices and much more. He's one of those people who's a true visionary and truly passionate about his craft.

Donald Pliner stated that his shoes are for women who understand fashion and understand economics (basically she knows how to invest in a good shoe). She doesn't cover her style but rather embraces it. As you can see from these photos which are from his latest collection, he offers something for everyone... at least I think so. Whether you're a full on fashionista who loves bold colors, and embellishments or you're more of the classic lady, you'll find a fitting shoe in this collection.

One of my favorite things about his collection which he's very known for is the beading in some of his shoes. So beautiful! Also, I like people who add personal touches to their designs... Did you know he made the sole of his shoes green because it's the color of his wife' eyes?! Melts my heart.

Below is myself and Christie talking to Mr Pliner.

If you would like to learn more about the Juvenile Diabetes Research Fund visit jdrf.org

Are you completely obsessed with one of the shoes above? Let me know!

New York Comic Con 2015. My Favorite Cosplay Part 1.

Hello Nubians,

(Crazy cool Mr. Sinister cosplay)

I had so much fun this past weekend at New York Comic Con! I have a lot of interesting post lined up and I wanted to start with one featuring some of my favorite cosplay costumes I saw during the convention. From DC comics to Marvel to film and video games, it was a fascinating year.

I went to the very first New York Comic Con and it's definitely been interesting to see how it's grown in every single aspect. I didn't cosplay at the very first convention but I've been doing it for many years now. Cosplay is a beautiful thing because costumes are cool and who the hell said they can only be worn during Halloween? Cosplay allows you to celebrate things you're a fan of such as writing or art, video games, comics, films and many times you end up giving it your own twist. Cosplay also brings people together. Just like any hobby, you find people who are into it and you end up making a ton of friends and having intense conversations about how you put your looks together and what inspired you.

New York Comic Con doesn't disappoint in the cosplay department. Though there are always some days that are better than others, I always walk out with a handful of things minimum that completely blew my mind.

Enjoy the photos below, more to come soon.

Super cute Mega Man babe.

Disney Love -Kingdom Hearts.

Aladdin and myself as Fantastic Mrs Fox.

Awesome rocker Harley Quinn. So in Love with that The Joker Jacket. Might try to make something similar eventually.

I've been seeing this guy for years. Never know what to call him. Ronald Mc Thor? Thor Mc Donald? Whatever, he's great.

Jean-Baptiste Emanuel Zorg from The Fifth Element

Another cosplay Vet here. The great Hulkbuster. He went on to win some sort of cosplay contest during the convention. Ahead of him you'll see a pretty Psylocke.

Pretty sweet looking Hawkgirl.

Creature from the Black Lagoon.

Baby Jack Skellington from A Nightmare Before Christmas.

Little Deadpool and Hey look that's me! Cosplaying as Ghostrider.

Poor Superman.

Naruto fans are intense.

This Jason Voorhees meant business! Scary.

Dark Alice In Wonderland.

Wonder Woman and Wonder Baby Girl.

Myself as Gambit and a very awesome Carnage from Spiderman.

Wonder Woman, Hawk Girl, Killer Frost, and Dead Shot.

Barry Allen AKA The Flash.

Dead Pool Party.

Great times at the convention this year. I love to see how people step their game up every year at Comic Con. If you saw any out of this world cosplay this year at New York Comic Con please feel free to share below.

Cheers!
