Geek Girls Look No Further...

I have found the cutest corsets for you! While I was roaming the aisles of New York Comic Con I ran into Corsairs Boutique and they have so much to offer. It is a great example of where geek meets chic. Geeks girls are hot!

At Corsairs Boutique you'll find a variety of geek girl styles. From animation, comic books, fairytales, gothic, video games, steam punk and more. You can even incorporate a lot of this into everyday street style if you dare with a nice pair of leggings, it's totally doable.

While I was browsing the booth I was examining the corsets and the fabric and I can tell you they are amazing quality, totally legit and worth the price. They will make you feel sexy and feminine while you sport the style of some of your favorite characters. I have always been a fan of corsets because they help you obtain a nice curvy silhouette and well... I like curves on a lady!

Love these Harley and Wonder Woman corsets.

Cute little hair bows. I wouldn't mind using these as bow ties too.

Sailor Moon! So pretty. I would love to rock this with some nice red boots or heels.

Pokemon, Wonder Woman and more cute bows.

If you like what you see visit Corsairs Boutique and shop HERE.

Manhattan Transfer: Daphne Groeneveld by Emma Summerton for Vogue Germany November 2015.

Hello Nubians,

I Love New York City. It's home sweet home to me. I recently bumped into this editorial of Daphne Groeneveld by Emma Summerton for Vogue Germany and I am smitten with the fact that it was photographed in Times Square. Beautiful lights, tall buildings, electricity all over and let's not forget the over prized epic gift shops haha.

I'm also pleased with the styling in this editorial as well. The mixing of colors, prints, and texture has been very popular lately. I've always been a fan of this look. I think it's my favorite Fall Fashion trend at the moment.

Model: Daphne Groeneveld
Photographer: Emma Summerton
Stylist: Patti Wilson
Hair: Akki
Make-up: Marla Belt
Manicure: Yuko Tsuchihashi

Another thing I like about the styling is the hats and head scarfs. So pretty.

The cheetah printed head scarf and cat eye glasses are an epic way to pay homage to the 60s.

This editorial has me wanting to up my faux fur collection right about now.

Are you digging any of these looks?

Cheers!

Ghost Rider Cosplay At New York Comic Con 2015.

My New York Comic Con Ghost Rider Cosplay Was Epic!

You might be asking yourself how this cosplay costume came to be... well let me take you on a little journey. It all started out with this young lad in the photo above with me, my big brother Daniel. Every year I attend New York Comic Con I cosplay different characters, I told him to pick one for me to do this year. He replied back with Marvel's Ghost Rider. I'm familiar with the Ghost Rider back story and all but it's not like I was a crazy super fan or anything. My immediate reaction was "Be Realistic" How am I going to get those flames going? I didn't want to use plastic or foam because I didn't like the way it looked. He stuck to his guns though with Ghost Rider AKA Johnny Blaze, so I decided to figure it out.

Enter this young lady below, My sister in law Kaori.

Hair

Cool kid ain't she? Besides being my sister in law (married to my other brother Dean) she's a woman of many talents. She has a beauty license from Japan and can do awesome things with hair. Kaori suggested I try to do fire hair! I must admit, I wasn't very confident at first but she painted a pretty picture and I figured anything is better than foam. I purchased a regular wig with the colors orange and red, the one below to be exact.

After Kaori applied her imagination and unique set of skills to the hair, she turned this regular synthetic wig into THIS.

I was BLOWN AWAY and highly impressed. It was everything I wanted and more. If you're wondering, there's nothing inside of the wig holding the hair up...  all hair, molding, and layering. It's a work of art.  If you ever need a wig or your natural hair done for cosplay or any special event, you should reach out to Kaori at kingyo.m28@gmail.com or kaori_m28@hotmail.com. I promise you, you wont find a lot of people that can do what she does in the time she does it. The was the center piece of the Ghost Rider cosplay and a VERY important part of the character.

Outfit

After I got my main concern out of the way which was the flames, I still had to make the outfit and makeup look good. For the outfit I started out checking what I had in my own home (This should be your first step for any cosplay, you'd be surprised). I was about to throw out this faux leather jacket I purchased at H&M a few years back because it was peeling. I'm so happy I didn't because it was perfect for my Ghost Rider cosplay. I also figured the peeling could look like pieces of the jacket were burned through so I didn't worry about that. I went to a few trim stores in Manhattan and picked up a handful of spikes to add on the shoulders of the jacket. I also found the chain at a trim store because I decided to not use aluminum or plastic. The chain ran me about $20. I already had a pair of Dr Marten boots because well... every fashionista does. I was hunting for a pair of faux leather pants but I couldn't find them anywhere surprisingly. I walked into Walmart and found a pair of leather leggings that looked like pants for about $12. I purchased medium instead of small because I didn't want them to look skin tight... I wanted them to look masculine and have a bit more of edge to them. Lastly, the gloves I found at a random little gift shop for 5 dollars.

Makeup

After the clothing was settled, the day I wore the cosplay I had to wake up a bit early to do my makeup. It's not that hard BUT I didn't use stage makeup so it was a bit annoying to layer. I purchased some regular Halloween makeup from Walgreens and I had to do a few layers to get the white face paint looking bold and evened out. I recommend putting on your regular primer and/or foundation under first for quicker results before applying the makeup. Before I started looking evil I looked like a Panda! Haha it was kind of funny. After searching the web for images, I took a little inspiration from everything and ended up looking like this. I think it came out nicely.

After the makeup was done, I applied the wig which was definitely the WOW factor and BAM! (Emeril Lagasse voice) my 2015 New York Comic Con Ghost Rider cosplay was done.

I had so much fun at the convention this year. This might be my favorite cosplay look I've done yet. The hair, makeup and outfit are all on point. The reactions I got on this look were amazing! I think this cosplay finally beat out my X-Men The White Queen from a few years back (which was pretty popular). I would absolutely wear this again. Not to mention it's probably the most comfortable look I've done. No heels or exposing too much flesh. The impact this had on people even left me surprised. I was very pleased. I took photos with a lot of people and had a lot of photos taken of me too.

Ghost Riders Meet.

Ghost Rider and The Joker.

Who knew Ghost Rider likes dogs.

Behind the scenes.

I guess there's a lot you can take from this post. Like always, life will show you anything is possible. I know it sounds silly to say something like that about a costume, BUT my first reaction when my brother mentioned it was something along the lines of "Get real, I can't make that look good or legit" and now I think it's my favorite cosplay I've done. There you have it kids, Cheers!

If you have any questions for me about the look, drop them in the comment box below.

5 Amazing Art Booths I Loved During New York Comic Con.

Hello Nubians,

I love Art just as much as I love fashion and beauty. At New York Comic Con you get hit with endless amounts of inspiration at every corner. So many people are talented in so many different ways and when I take it all in, it makes me want to be even more creative.

Below I wanted to give a shout out to a few of my favorite booths. I was already familiar with some of these artist and some were a bit new to me. So much detail, color, cuteness, and hard work. It's like Kawaii-mania! What I also appreciate about a lot of these booths is that there's a big price range. In almost every booth you can find something for as little $10.00 and then they also have more exclusive items that might run you up to $200.00 but it's all worth it. There's a lot of hours on hard work, labor and love here.

Make sure you stop by all of these sites. I'm certain you'll find something you need in your life here. These kinds of shops contain items that make some of the best most unique holiday gifts. Something that people won't be likely to forget.

Zukies

I spoke to Miss Zukie at New York Comic Con and she was an absolute treat. She told me about the cute little creatures and how they're whatever gender you want them to be. At the booth you'll find prints, plushes, stickers, tees, and more.

Miss Zukie also told me that whenever the Zukies are wearing another character, it means they killed it and put it on. I know you may be thinking "whoa, that's dark" but I love the concept. It's quite sinister that these adorable little characters can be so evil but I enjoy entertaining the thought. I also like the other characters involved with the Zukies such as Pikachu, BMO, Hello Kitty and more. The piece with the Zukies afro hair is absolutely gorgeous.  Shop Zukies HERE

"Zukies are mysterious creatures that do not talk. They communicate with thought bubbles and facial expressions. Zukies intend to generate emotions through their visual thoughts and that is how they create an emotional bond with us." - Miss Zukie

Jelly Koe

Everything seen here from plush, paintings and art prints, comics, zines, and more is created by jellykoe! There's a lot of variety in this booth. Below you'll see the "Slice of Love" plush which was a New York Comic Con exclusive I purchased as a gift for someone... Isn't it the perfect gift for any New Yorker? If you're looking for something similar and cute there's also a very cute burger plush called "Kid Beefy" available on their site. Shop JellyKoe HERE

Fierce little monster plushes. I have my eyes in the handsome little devil.

The art work of the little monsters on the heads of the people in those classic portraits is one of my favorites from the booth. It's so random and cool. I don't think it's possible to receive anything from this booth and not crack a smile. I had a chat with the artist and they were also immensely friendly.

Little Punk People

"Spooky but Sweet" I think Little Punk People is so inspiring because you will all surely think "Family Goals". This dope company is family art created by 3 people Daniela Fullam, Justin Fullam, and their son Elliott Fullam. Everything they make goes towards there living and right back into Little Punk People so they can keep touring to different shows and conventions. Crazy right? They also have the most entertaining YouTube channel. Check out their videos and shop their collection by heading over HERE

I am absolutely a new fan of these haunted little characters. The women characters especially are so tortured and beautiful. From their hair to their eye lashes to the lipstick, I need one of these hanging in my home ASAP. On their site you'll be able to shop for a variety of things such as paintings, tote bags, vinyl figures, pillows and home decor.

The mason jars are very adorable and so are the snack bowls. All hand painted.

The Jelly Empire

If you love robots look no further, The Jelly Empire will be your holy grail. Out of all of the artist I featured in this round-up, I've been a fan of Selina Briggs little robot creations for the longest. I have a lot of her little guys framed and hanging in my home and I have also given many away as gifts. I even have the cutest little shirt! You can't wear one of these little guys down the street and not get stopped, it's next to impossible. Selina started her empire with 2D art but it has grown with original art, comics, collaborations, her own line of toys, tees and more! What an amazing accomplishment. She's also seriously one of the most humble, sweetest ladies you'll meet. Check out The Jelly Empire and shop HERE

The adorable factor here is over whelming. Below you'll see my 2 favorite prints from the convention. There's way too much to pick from #RobotGirlProblems. These pop culture inspired little robots are going to take over the world!

"Meet Jelly the robot. This little robot left his home planet to explore the universe, but one day along his many travels he stumbled upon the human planet called ‘Earth’. He found this a very curious planet and fell in love with the human Pop Culture and now spends his time trying to find his place within it. Jelly made Earth his new home and has invited many of his fellow Robotians to join him."

 The Art of Sketch

The Art Of Sketch is another charming booth I picked up a few prints from. This artist offers something for everyone. As you can see here, the art is inspired by horror, love, comics, movies, and everything pop culture. I'm sure the artist Oscar "Sketch" Navarro also puts a special, personal touch to his work too. One of my favorite prints is "A Fun Day At The Park" which is the skeleton couple. It's also available in a cool pop-up looking version on his website. Shop The Art Of Sketch HERE.

I currently own the Friday the 13th and gave away the Harley Quinn as a gift.

New York Comic Con was a lot of fun. These are only a handful of the amazing artist and creations you'll find at the convention. If you've never been to the convention, make sure you stop by next October.

If you have any questions, drop them in the comment box below.

Cheers!

Hello Nubians,

Tis the season! For the holidays and unfortunately chapped lips.

Lip care year round is very important as is moisture. Even when applying makeup, it's always a smart move to apply some sort of lip balm under your lipstick.

Burt's Bees has just released this Mint Cocoa Moisturizing Lip Balm and it's sounds dreamy. Nothing like a warm cup of cacao on a cold Fall/Winter day, now you can wear the taste on your lips! I can't wait to try it, I might want to eat it ha ha. I'm a big fan of Burt's Bees products because they're very helpful to stop chapping during harsh season changes.

Hello Nubians,

Hair Tattoos? Say What?

Now I'm not usually one to blog about any Jenner or Kardashian for no reason like the rest of the world, but I found this really cute and pretty.

I'm always looking around for the next hot new hair trend. I saw a photo of Kylie Jenner rocking this pretty hair tattoo and decided to look into it a bit. I think if you wear one or two of these hair tattoos they're very pretty and can even look elegant with gold jewelry. It's an accessory to make your hair stand out a bit without you having to dye it.

The cool thing about these hair tattoos is that they're crazy affordable and made by Scünci.

Scünci Hair Tattoos: Bring the tattoo trend to your tresses with new hair tattoos that work on both skin and hair. Applied with water, each stylish tattoo brings a metallic glimmer to your look, and comes off just as easily as it goes on. Available in assorted colors/designs, $4.99 at Ulta stores.

What do you think guys? Would you rock a hair tattoo?

Bright Fall Fashion Roaming Brooklyn.

Hello Nubians,

Fall In NYC Feels Good.

I was a little cold in this jacket but I survived. This Fall I've been trying to incorporate bright colors in almost all of my outfits hence my Royal gla.MAR.ous beanie which has quickly become one of my favorites. Who doesn't want to wear their crown? About the rest of my outfit... my awesome printed jacket is from Patty's Closet. My jeans are by GUESS and my boots have been my go-to's since I arrived in NY by Dr. Martens.

I've been in New York for almost 2 weeks now and it feels great to be home. Over the weekend I went to Brooklyn to eat some Thai food with my friend and it felt like the good ol days. Though the weather is getting cold, it feels nice to roam the streets and pick up the city vibe. Also, that means more layering and endless style possibilities. The leaves look beautiful, the skies are bright, and New York is still New York.

Love is in the air.

ION At Home Hair Color Coder Quiz. Do It Yourself!

$

0
Hello Nubians,

Have Your Own Virtual Hair Colorist With ION!

Some of you may know that I love ION hair products. From hair brushes, curlers, shampoos, and especially their semi-permanent colors. I am constantly changing my hair color and doing fun things with it. After trying a variety of semi-permanent color brands, ION stole my heart and I like their quality the best. Now ION has something else that I found amazingly helpful on their website and I wanted to share it with you. It's their Color Coder Quiz which serves as a Virtual Stylist & Colorist!

Have you ever considered changing your hair color and you think to yourself "Where the hell do I start?""What am I doing?""I really hope I don't mess this up" "What products do I need?" It's easy to have a panic attack and feel very confused. This is why I really appreciate this color coder quiz ION has provided for us because it takes away a lot of that anxiety and has great recommendations. It's recommendations are so detailed that it even asks you if you look better with gold or silver jewelry on, crazy right? It just makes me feel like the brand is doing their best to make sure you look AH-MAZ-ING. I took the quiz so you can all see what I'm talking about and I can walk you through it.

Step 1: The first thing the color coder will ask you is what is your goal? Do you want to go light, darker, or just enhance your color. For this I chose GO LIGHTER.

Step 2: Next it'll ask you if you have to deal with grays. Which I selected NO GRAY. I like that for every selection you make, your virtual colorist gives you tips below. It's always good to learn new things about your hair and color maintenance so you don't make mistakes that might cost you dearly or possibly ruin your hair.

Step 3: Now the ION virtual colorist has to know what matches your natural hair color best so they can know how to obtain your new color goal and what products you'll need. Here I selected BLACK.

Step 4: You have to decide what hair color direction you're going in. I selected BLONDE. Therefore all products and tips they recommend should help me obtain this goal in the healthiest most efficient way possible for my hair. It might take a few steps because we all know black to blonde is difficult but it well be well worth it to maintain beautiful healthy hair.

Step 5: Now we pick a tone. Do you want warm, neutral, or cool. The virtual colorist ask you your jewelry preference here in between gold or silver to help you make a decision. I think this helps so much because you want something that looks good with your complexion. I selected WARM.

Now BAM! Here are some recommendations from your virtual colorist. You can select how many levels light you would like to go and they give you an idea of what the results will look like in the photos.

I would probably go 4-5 levels brighter because I love the bold look and the colors are beautifully vibrant. Though my hair would require touch ups every 4 weeks, I know its going to look healthy and not dried or cracked and I won't have a million split ends.

After the quiz there is also a few product recommendations available to you.

What do you guys think? Head on over and take the quiz now over HERE

I am very pleased with the results and after many years of mistreating my hair, I can appreciate any person or brand who tries to take care of it.

Cheers!

Hello Babes and Babettes,

Trick or treat nails! This is a cute but scary manicure Monday. My sister in law loves to draw awesome little things, she's all about that Do It Yourself life. In honor of Halloween coming up, she gifted me with these pretty nails. Here you'll see she drew ghost, pumpkins, bats, spider webs, a mummy and more. Super kawaii right?

I put them on and was totally in love. I use KISS Maximum Speed Nail glue, it's my favorite. Here's how the looked when I applied them. Hopefully this inspired you to do something fun too.

Do any of you have fun plans this Halloween?

Hello Nubians,

What Are You Going To Be For Halloween?

I know what I'm doing! But it's still a secret, SHHhhHHHhhHh. Spending anywhere from 60-200 dollars on a Halloween costume seems like something from the past and silly for something you wear once a year. I think most people are going way more for the Do It Yourself approach lately and honestly, it's much cooler and fun sometimes.

Beauty and fashion bloggers always give great tips, especially with makeup. YouTube is the place to go look! Some of these ladies are absolutely Ah-MAZ-ing. I've seen some insanely scary and gory looking stuff out there. Below please check out my top 5 favorite Halloween makeup looks I think are fabulous (In no particular order). It's hard to pick because there are so many to choose from!

1) Creepy Broken Doll Tutorial: Halloween 2015 | Dulce Candy.
OMGoshhh. Scary right from the intro. Something about old porcelain dolls is extremely creepy. Dulce did a great job.

2) Pop Art / Cartoon Zombie by Nicole Guerriero.
This pop art zombie is a little lighter than some of the looks I've featured here in terms of Gore, but the pop art makes it tons of fun and still pretty scary. It looks like something out of a colorful graphic novel. Nicole did a fantastic job. Make sure to check out her other Halloween videos too!

3) Zombie Princess Peach Halloween Makeup SFX Tutorial | Jordan Hanz / Alex Faction.
My never ending love for Nintendo's Super Mario Bros made me love this Zombie Princess Peach. A job very well done and extremely easy to follow.

4) Trippy Double Vision Makeup Look by dope2111.
This one gave me goosebumps and also made me a bit dizzy at first haha. Very original and cool. Another great job.

5) Harvey Dent // Two Face Special FX Makeup Tutorial ♡ Batman Series by Bonnie Corban SFX.
I LOVE DC comics and Batman. Seeing this Harvey Dent/Two Face tutorial made me sOoOoOo happy. I already have my costume for this year planned out but I might have to try this next year. So cool.

There you have it kiddies! My top five favorite Halloween makeup looks via YouTube. Give all of these talented ladies a follow and check out some of there other stuff. I hope if you don't have a costume planned out yet you give one of these a try. Let me know if you do.

Halloween Dog Parade At Tompkins Square Park.

The Halloween Dog Parade At Tompkins Square Park Was So Adorable!

I decided to head over to the Halloween Dog Parade with my sister-in-law Kaori. It was in the St Marks area and I attended with my 2 little babies Bambi and Nala. I've featured Bambi and Nala on Nubia's Nonsense a few times. I absolutely love dogs and I have a crazy obsession with my beautiful chihuahuas. I dressed them both in little pumpkin dresses and they looked so kawaii! I myself wore all black and a purple wig with a gorgeous hair piece from NicCoCo Creations.

(Myself with Nala and Bambi)

There was proud owners walking around with their awesome pups all over the place in the coolest costumes. Chihuahuas, Huskys, Pitbulls, Boxers, Yorkies, and so much more. I saw a lot of dogs dressed as lions, dinosaurs, Star Wars related costumes, and a lot of unique do it yourself costumes. All the dogs were so friendly and beautiful. Bambi and Nala enjoyed socializing with other dogs even though they were a little scared at first. It was a bit over packed but I'm still so glad I went. It was cuteness overload and if you love dogs it would absolutely melt your heart. Enjoy the photos below.

Traditional Mexican style for this Chihuahua. Nice sombrero!

How smooth is this little guy with his sunglasses?!

I think this was a Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte above ha ha very clever.

A little cloud.

This must be a strong dog if he's carrying The Hulk on his back.

Octopus!

OH-MY-GOSHHH. This little lion is everything!

Bambi and Nala a little tired after the Parade.

My outfit of the day with little Bambi.

Remember to always love animals and make sure they have a good home. Spread that message anytime you have a chance!

What do you think about the parade? Which is your favorite costume?

Cheers!

Village Halloween Parade NYC.

$
0
0
Hello Nubians,

This year Halloween was sooooo much fun! I officially walked in the Village Halloween Parade for the first time (most years I would just go to it and be a drunk viewer ha ha). I also had a very scary costume I'm going to tell you about. For my Halloween costume this year, I was a Kuchisake-onna.

"Kuchisake-onna (口裂け女?, "Slit-Mouthed Woman") is a figure appearing in Japanese urban legends. She is a woman who was mutilated by her husband, and returns as a malicious spirit."

This costume idea came about when I have having a conversation with my sister in law Kaori about a kimono I purchased at a thrift store. One thing led to another and she recommended I be a Kuchisake-onna for Halloween. I liked the idea being that I love Japanese culture and horror movies. I couldn't wait to put it all together. This is another great tag team by Kaori and myself, she made my AMAZING Ghost Rider wig for my New York Comic Con cosplay. Below I'll tell you about what she made for this Kuchisake-onna look. If you're ever looking for someone to possibly make cool costumes, molding wigs, or even amazing hair styles for a grand event, hit her up at kingyo.m28@gmail.com or kaori_m28@hotmail.com and hopefully she'll be available. I only recommend amazing people and she's crazy talented and crafty.

Step 1
First Kaori made a Japanese Kanzashi hair piece out of 2 metal chopsticks I gave her that I had lying around. She used a belly dancing belt and ripped of some of the coins and beads to create a flower. Looks so legit! I would wear this hair accessory on any given regular day, it's very pretty.

Step 2
The Kimono I had was kind of small. So we thought it would be best that I wore it over another one, preferably a white one. The only problem is I didn't have a white kimono! Kaori said she would do her best to make one (even though she never had before) and asked me for a twin size sheet set. I found a sheet set that was off white and dropped it off at her place. Before you know it, this happened! She made this photo so you can see which pieces from the bed set were used. I love how she used the pillow case embroidery for the collar. It looks even better in person.

Step 3
Myself and Kaori both worked on the makeup. I covered myself in white face paint which you can easily find at Walgreens or Duane Reade. A good way to get this makeup to look bold faster and not so oily is to start with a primer and a layer of your own skin tone foundation. This serves as a first layer. After that, you can start applying the white face paint and it goes on smoother and better pigmented. When you're satisfied, take away any shine you don't like with a nice setting powder. I used 2 different tones of red blush for my eyes (because I didn't have red eye shadow with me) and Kaori did the crazy looking slit mouth. We both went crazy with the fake blood all over my outfit and my face and everywhere ha ha it looked so scary and it was fun to do. I used red contacts to give the look an extra demon-ish effect.

Step 4
My sister-in-law did a messy Nihongami hair style. I'm pretty sure she told me she did this once in beauty school in Japan where she obtained her license. She made it look a bit messy on purpose and pulled out some stray hairs because hello! I was a malicious spirit after all. She did a great job on the look and added some accessories to my hair she made from fabric as well as the Kanzashi.

Final Look!
After I got my hair and makeup done and got dressed, TA-DAH! This was it! The Final look.

(The flip flops also got wrapped in fabric so it looked more realistic. Plastic would have cheapened the costume)

It was soooooo scary! I'm so happy with how it came out and I'm so grateful that my sister-in-law Kaori helped me put it together. It wouldn't have looked so good and authentic without all her skills.

Village Adventures.
As I mentioned prior, this was my first time actually walking the parade. I went with my friend Mary who did a very cute DIY snow white costume, my sister-in-law Kaori who did a DIY mummy girl and my brother Dean who was a very classic/old school ghost made with a bed sheet (he was also rocking a black bow-tie.) I had so much fun walking around with my friends and seeing other amazing costumes.

FIGHT!

Kuchisake-onna and Zombie Princess Leia. Dope makeup job.

This beautiful couple right here. Kaori and my brother Dean the ghost.

Boobs!

Snow White x 2.

Loved these playing cards.

Cyclops and The Punisher.

Kim Kardashian broke the Halloween Parade too!

Just a nice group of nuns.

Ran into these pretty ladies for a bit. Paige and Pam looking great.

Subway rides, what a drag.

After the parade we went to eat Thai food at a spot in Queens called Playground. The food was delicious, I would recommend it to a friend.

If you go, you must try the hot bread with thai custard dessert. It's so tasty and great to share with friends.

Good times, with good people. That's already winning right?

What did you dress up as this year? I hope you all had a great Halloween!

Cheers!

Cool Cat Nails? Yes Please!

Hey Nubians,

Cool Cat Nails? Yes Please!

First off, I'd like to start this post by saying that I suffer from cat allergies... tragic right? I still enjoy watching their kawaii YouTube videos because they're very interesting creatures and well... some are quite adorable. I kind of always wanted a Sphinx myself.

Anyway, the other day I was roaming around a discount store (Lot-Less to be exact) and I saw these adorable press-on nails for .99 cents! I thought they were pretty hilarious and decided to give them a try. Kitty cats in outer space shooting rad glitter lazer beams out of their eyes...why not? Plus I try to have my nails nicely done as often as possible. I have to keep my beauty game on check and press-on nails are a quick solution for anyone with a busy schedule.

The brand is Chic + Pretty and it even comes with it's own nail glue in the box. I decided to use my own glue however, I'm a fan of the KISS products maximum speed glue.

The nails do not seem cheap at all, the quality seems just as good as something I could have purchased at Walgreens or Target. I love finding these weird little random things.

Have you ran into any cool nails lately? Done any cool designs? Do you use press-ons? It's my quick fix ;-)

Cheers!

Martha Hunt For So It Goes Magazine.

Hello Nubians,

'Every woman is after a kind of classy image.'

Martha Hunt for So It Goes magazine Fall/Winter 2015 is an absolute treat. Liz McClean did a superb job with the fashion styling. Classy, glamorous, and extremely well tailored. Provocative with out having to give it all away. Flirtatious, risqué, suggestive.

One thing I simply adore about this editorial is the story behind it, or at least what I get from it. Here I feel Martha Hunt plays the role of the sexy, independent woman. A woman who travels, lives her own life, and is a total fox. passionately determined and a force not to be reckoned with. I see radiance, empowerment and confidence. I think it sends out a positive, modern message.

How do you feel about this editorial?

Cool Unique Hair Color!

Cool Hair, Don't Care!

Hello my dears! I wanted to give you a quick peek at my new hair. I'm so excited about it. It's fun, fresh and unique. I was in the mood for something new and I had given my hair a little break from bleaching (my natural hair was already by my ears). Keeping you hair healthy is extremely important. My amazing sister-in-law Kaori knows how to do wonderful things with hair dye and she told me to think about what I wanted and let her know.

Thinking about what you want to do to your hair can be quite difficult...

Ok... so this isn't a life or death problem but it's something to think about. You don't want to walk around with something you don't like on top of your head! I searched the internet for hair and color inspiration and Kaori sent me a lot of photos too. There's so much rad hair colors and cuts out there... maybe I'll make a post of some of my favorite looks soon. After thinking for a while I still didn't really make a choice but decided to head to Sally Beauty to pick out some dye. I ended up buying ION hair dye because they're one of my go-to brands.

I picked up the semi permanent color Shark Blue and permanent High Life Ash Blonde and Blue Black. After that Kaori worked her magic and we ended up going with half of my head Blue Black, and the other half in Shark Blue on the bottom and half Blonde and Blue Black on the top.

This is a difficult job to do. You have to be careful when working with light and dark colors together. The dark color could easily bleed on to the blonde. You have to work in sections and wash and dry the hair separately in the beginning. Better safe than sorry.

Then BOOM! It was done. I'm smitten with the results and can't wait to style it more. It was time for a change.

How about you? Anyone planning to make any crazy hair changes soon?

Cheers!

Gwen Stefani's Harajuku Lovers Petco Collection Is Super Kawaii!

OMGoshhhhhh! Holy Kawaii.

Hello Nubians,

Gwen Stefani has been having a tough few months with her divorce from Gavin Rossdale and all, but it's nice to see it hasn't stopped her creative juices from flowing! She's on The Voice, has released new music and is also designing (you go girl!). Ms. Stefani has launched a Harajuku Lovers collection at Petco for your adorable dogs AKA fur babies. The collection is very stylish and fashionable. I feel like it's a good reflection of Gwen's own style. A little punk and edgy. Very charming little outfits. You can shop the collection HERE

Gwen Stefani describes the collection as, “Playful, modern and super kawaii.” I couldn't agree more. The hoodie in the photo below is my favorite piece, it has a bow and everything and that characters are too cute for words. I have my 2 little chihuahua babies Bambi and Nala and at least one of them will be rocking this.

Another great thing about the collection is that the pet clothes range from $5-$20 which is very fair.

These dog models were def killing it in these photos by the way. My immense love for dogs will NEVER EVER STOP.

So what do you think of the collection? Planning to pick any of these cute outfits or accessories up for your little pups?

Cheers!

Is The Glitter Hair Trend For You?

Sparkle and Shine Girl!

There has been a fun new hair trend floating around on the internet lately, glitter hair! More like glitter roots actually. I myself wouldn't rock it during the day, but I think it's super fun and flirty for night life and partying. A good trend to kick up your beauty & hairstyles up a notch. I also believes it plays off your natural hair color growing out against your hair dye.

Get The Look

Now if you ask me, there's a few interesting ways you might give this the DIY approach. You can buy glitter and put it on your hair with spray or gel, but if you're looking to buy a hair product I would suggest Scünci Hair Shimmer! With just the press of the poof, your hair and body can light up in either silver or gold. Easy peasy!

What do you think guys? Would you give this look a shot?

Cheers!

Dress for Sushi!

Hey Nubians,

Cool and Casual

Fall is my favorite season of the year. So fresh and cool without having to freeze. Plus you get to layer your clothing and use your imagination more... fun stuff.

A few days ago, I went out on a sushi date at the Kabuki restaurant in Town Square and I kept it pretty cool and casual. It's that time of year when you start changing up your wardrobe again slowly but surely. I wanted to look cute but feel comfortable like I can just kick back and relax.

I ended up wearing a pair of jeggings from Banana Republic which look good with pretty much anything, a white tee with an adorable fox wearing a scarf from Threadless (gift from the brother), A stockman hat from H&M, sneakers by New Balance (love the colors), and my coat from Kenneth Cole. I felt trendy, warm, stylish and free.

I purchased these New Balance sneakers about a month ago. The color combination is bad ass. Bright and bold is my preferred style any season.

Kabuki in Town Square Las Vegas is a must-go-to sushi restaurant if you're in town. The fish always taste fresh and the rice is the perfect texture. I enjoyed a plum wine with a few rolls with salmon, spicy tuna, scallops, and more.

The miso clam soup was also delicious.

What have you guys been up to the last few days? Cheers!
